Copy only what you are allowed to use
Photography, OCR text, imported documents, transcribed recordings and synthesized readings can create additional copies or uses of a work. A production's performance license may not permit digital copying, voice playback, rehearsal recordings or distribution to cast members. Check the exact title, edition, agreement and intended use with the director or licensor before importing protected material.
Use your original material, material verified to be in the public domain for the relevant version and jurisdiction, or material authorized for these uses. A public-domain play can still have a protected translation, adaptation or edition. If relying on an exception such as fair use, evaluate the actual circumstances; nonprofit status, private storage, owning a printed script and a show-date deadline do not automatically establish permission or fair use.
Lyrics and music belong to a musical work; a particular sound recording has separate rights. Permission to perform a song does not necessarily cover copying lyrics, importing a backing track, recording a cover, sharing a rehearsal recording or copying another person's recording. Obtain permission from participants before importing someone else's voice or sharing a recording. Do not import private or confidential material you are not authorized to use.
The permission checkbox records your confirmation; it does not grant a license, verify an agreement or prove authorization. The show-date control limits an app copy's retention and does not expand permitted use. The scene and song samples are original demo material. Share the app with those samples first; check protected script and music distribution separately.
The actual SKITS production agreement has not been reviewed. These US-focused notices explain product behavior and general rights considerations; they are not legal advice or a legal clearance. The applicable agreement and law control.

What is processed and saved
Imported scripts, photos and audio are processed in this page's memory. Natural voice generation, English speech transcription and OCR run on the device. The app code does not send your imported content or microphone audio to an app content server or a cloud inference service. Device voices are supplied by your browser or operating system and may use external services; their privacy behavior is outside this app's control. Choose Natural voices when local voice generation is required.
No rehearsal is saved automatically. “Save on this device” stores the current script or lyrics, cast and role settings, practice selection, permission reference and expiry setting in browser local storage. This version keeps one saved rehearsal per browser profile and website origin; saving another replaces it. It does not synchronize saves across devices, browsers or domains. Clearing site storage, private browsing, browser eviction or device loss can remove saved work. Local storage is not encrypted by this app and is not an access-controlled cast library; anyone with access to the browser profile or device may access it.
Raw photos, source documents, uploaded audio, microphone takes and synthesized speech are not included in saved rehearsal packages. Audio and generated speech may remain in page memory for playback until cleared, stopped as applicable, expired or the page is closed. Exported scripts and reviews are files you deliberately download; reviews can include the expected words, transcript and scores. Your original files remain wherever you stored them.
Microphone and camera features use the normal browser or device permission controls. You can type a response or upload an authorized file without granting microphone access. Revoke permissions in your browser or device settings when you no longer want access.
Network requests still happen
The website host receives ordinary page and asset requests, including request metadata such as IP address, time, user agent and requested URL; the host may retain server logs under its policies. Public speech models and voice data download from Hugging Face. Import libraries, OCR runtime and language files download from third-party hosts including jsDelivr and related model-file hosts. These requests disclose ordinary network metadata to those providers. They fetch software/model files rather than uploading your script or recording.
The app code has no advertising, analytics or cast-account integration, and does not use cookies to store scripts. Browser, operating-system, hosting and download-provider data practices are separate. The optional home-screen app caches the empty app interface; model downloads may also be cached. Internet is needed for first downloads and whenever a required model or library is absent or evicted. Offline availability and device performance are not guaranteed.
After the final show
To save or export a rehearsal, confirm permission and choose a final show date. Expiry is the end of that date in the saving device's timezone. The absolute expiry timestamp travels with an exported package. Merely selecting a date does not save a copy or create a guaranteed deletion schedule for unsaved page content.
The app checks saved expiry on startup, before key actions, on return to the foreground and every 30 seconds while running. Expired saved content is blocked and removed when checked. An open rehearsal associated with that expiry has its script, transcripts, reviews and generated speech cleared when the app detects expiration.
A closed browser cannot delete content at an exact time. The device clock, local storage and package settings can be altered. This is a retention control, not DRM or secure erasure. Exports, camera originals, Downloads, screenshots, operating-system backups and any copies shared elsewhere remain outside the app's control. Delete those separately when required. Expiry does not revoke a file already received by another person.
“Remove saved script” removes the saved browser copy and leaves the current open rehearsal in memory. “Clear this rehearsal” clears the open content; use both controls if both copies must go. To remove downloaded model files as well, clear this site's storage/cache in browser settings. Model caches hold public model files rather than saved rehearsal content. Storage deletion does not guarantee removal from backups or physical recovery media.
What a score can tell you
Scene dialogue and sung lyrics are separate activities. Both compare expected words with a transcript or typed response. Missing, substituted and added words lower the score; capitalization and punctuation are normalized. Whole-scene and whole-song scores weight sections by their expected word counts. Write every repeated verse and chorus in performance order.
OCR and speech recognition can misread names, accents, quiet speech and singing. Music accompaniment and overlapping voices can reduce transcription accuracy. Review the imported reference and the transcript against what was actually performed. Manual scene mode lets you correct a transcript before submitting; automatic scene mode can submit without that review. Song scoring requires transcript confirmation and can include your corrections or typed practice. A corrected transcript score is not an independent assessment of the recording.
Scores are approximate practice feedback, not an audition, casting or professional assessment. Acting quality, emotional delivery, tune, pitch, melody, rhythm and vocal technique are not scored. Voice designations describe the selected synthetic voice options; they do not identify a performer or infer anyone's gender.
A rehearsal prototype
SceneSparrow is built for the Shell Knob SKITS rehearsal pilot. Shell Knob In The Spotlight is the theatre's name. Riff is an original AI-generated mascot. Synthetic cast voices are generated model voices or installed device voices, not recordings of cast members.
This prototype may produce errors, lose local work or be unavailable. It makes no guarantee of word recognition, performance readiness, exact-time deletion, legal permission or compatibility with every device. Keep authorized originals and verify important results. It is a practice aid, not a substitute for the director, licensed material or professional advice. Installing the website on a home screen is available where supported; compiled native app-store releases and real-phone microphone coverage are still being developed and tested.
Open-source components have their own licenses and warranty notices. See software credits and distribution status and third-party notices.
